TP3100 Live Scan

Client: Identix Corporation

Process:
Solid participated from the beginning through production following our Phase Gate Process for product design and development. Involvement included all mechanical engineering and project management. Solid started by working with an optical engineer to create a folded optical path and then designed the optics 'deck' for ease of assembly and calibration. This sub-assembly sits inside the plastic exterior and provides the heart of this system. Then Solid designed the three piece plastic exterior in 3D CAD software after detailed sketches were approved by our Client. Solid then created full engineering documentation for all machined, fabricated and moulder components and solicited quotations for identified potential suppliers. Solid then coordinated supplier selection, tool build and all 1st Article approvals.

Solution:
The product was designed and given the name TP3100 and has been very successful in the market. Many of the US Embassies around the world use a TP3100 to gather finger prints for Visa applications to visit the USA. The optics 'Deck' itself has also been integrated into two other product platforms. The TP3100 design was also created in a sheet metal version.
