October 2024 – Croatian Engineering Seminar
Learn about how major engineering challenges were overcome by the Romans and the Croatians to build great structures and systems. Did you know that Nikola Tesla was born in Croatia when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire?
Discover other impressive accomplishments from this amazing region like the Tito Bridge, a new, larger bridge is being constructed from the mainland to Krk Island and is expected to be finalised by 2029. Roman rule over Croatia collapsed in the 5th century, but much of their influence can still be seen today in the ancient buildings they created.
Croatia is also awash with modernist buildings constructed during its Yugoslav era, many of which have been abandoned and are quietly decaying. Travelling in the Adel Lora, this seminar includes lodging meals and daily lectures describing the works of engineering that we’ll be visiting.
For under 2,000 euros per person, plus airfare, you’ll gain a great appreciation for the engineering efforts already faced and overcome by people living and working in this region of the world.

September – October 2023 – German Engineering Seminar
Starting Saturday 30 Sept. at 13.00 h in Aschaffenburg. Learn about the German engineering feats to create the Zeppelin. You’ll visit The Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen is a museum in Friedrichshafen in Germany, the birthplace of the Zeppelin airship. The museum houses the largest collection on airship travel in the world, and chronicles the history of the Zeppelin airships.
Over the years the German people have made vast contributions to engineering, and they have started their share of trouble too. We’ll focus on the buildings, waterways and community focussed engineering efforts of the Germans during these daily lectures and tours. We’ll visit castles, wineries, churches and other significant building projects. Join us on a 7 day voyage of discovery staying on the IRIS Bike Barge traveling on the MAIN, RHINE and MOSELLE Rivers.
