PRODUCTION PHASE

Once the Pilot Build Phase is completed and the deliverables are approved by you, Solid Design Solutions Australia (Solid Design) participates in the Production Phase as desired by the Client. This is the phase when production quality control, quantity ramp up and concurrent engineering support activities will be the biggest portion of the engineering activities. Having the engineers who designed the product, fully engaged in this process is critical to minimizing the total cost of these production launch and support tasks. The phase begins with ensuring that the project team has the correct resources assigned to complete the engineering tasks required to provide production launch support, review field failures identifying root causes, increase efficiencies through process improvements and incrementally improve the product as production continues. Our assigned Project Manager will document the detailed work packages by subsystem, and by engineering discipline as possible, to build a detailed summary of resources required for this phase. A phase kick-off meeting, coordinated by our Project Manager, signals the formal beginning of the phase ensuring that all team members have a full understanding of their responsibilities and of the requirements, schedule, scope and budget of the phase. As the detailed work tasks are performed our Project Manager will coordinate regular meetings with team members and key Stakeholders and formally report on the status of your program every other week with a written Status Report keeping you informed on progress, spending and issues. 

The main goal for this phase is to ensure a smooth production start-up and verify that the product produced is meeting the documented quality requirements. Depending on the product, these preparations may include staff training, ‘out of box’ auditing, statistical process control process set up and observation of assembly personnel. Meetings with critical suppliers will be held as needed on an ongoing basis. In addition, use of production and test fixtures will be audited to verify these are being used and used properly, improvements will be made where possible.

• Audit and Inspection Reports
• Production Readiness Report
• Field failure Inspection Reports
• Updated engineering drawings through formal production revision control
• Updated Software and Firmware source code through formal production revision control
• Updated production costed bill of materials (BOM) based on multiple production quantity levels
• Updated Risk Assessment with mitigation and response strategies
